Abstracts are invited on the Panel Theme of Understanding Communities: Defending the Local Against the Unifix Survey,  which is being organised for the forthcoming European Society of Criminology Conference 2007, University of Bologna, 26 to 29 September 2007 – for full details of the conference see http://www.eurocrim2007.org/default.html  The Panel is looking to bring together contemporary research and scholarship which explores the relationship of national and local frameworks of knowledge and understanding.  Papers from contributors who are developing a range of alternative theoretical, epistemological and/or methodological frameworks of inquiry, and/or explore the social, political and cultural implications of a more context-relevant approach, are especially welcome.
